Meryl Hurwich

Biography

I'm Meryl Hurwich, owner, artist and founder of Inkwitch Tattoo. Working fulltime tattooing since 2000, I completed my apprenticeship with the astoundingly talented Denise de la Cerda in Jersey City, N.J. My art background includes a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art from Parsons School of Design in N.Y.C., and a lengthy stint as Art Director of Tower Records now defunct Lincoln Center store.

The job of putting permanent marks on other human beings is a tremendously rewarding experience, and one that I treat with utmost respect. I am here to help you empower yourself with body art, and look forward to designing a custom piece for you that holds personal meaning and embodies positive energy. Are you looking for finely detailed black and grey work, or a brilliant colorbomb of a tattoo? I am fluent in both, as well as in other styles of tattoo. My specialty is Sacred Art as tattoo.

Sacred Art refers to anything visual that holds powerful spiritual meaning for an individual, for example, a symbol, a saint, or a deity. All spiritual traditions fascinate me, whether Judeo-Christian, Native American, Wiccan, Islamic, or otherwise. The imagery and iconography of Hindu and Tibetan Buddhist traditions are my personal favorites to work with. Tell me, what do you hold Sacred?
